WINDSOR HOSPITALS EXPAND USE OF ACCESS TO CARE, WAIT TIMES, eSCHEDULING SYSTEM

WINDSOR, ON – Sep 19, 2013 —  By upgrading, expanding and integrating its use of the web-based Novari Access to Care® system, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital (HDGH) will soon deploy the latest version of the state of the art technology. The project, coordinated locally by Consolidated Health Information Services (CHIS), the regional shared services organization, will also deploy the same technology at Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH).

In 2008 HDGH was an early adopter of the Access to Care technology.  Now deployed at dozens of hospitals and across health regions, the software gives individual surgical offices a colour-coded dashboard of patients waiting for surgeries and other hospital based procedures.  Better tracking of patients waiting on physician lists helps to ensure patients receive treatment in line with provincial wait time targets.

The physician offices across Windsor will transition from a paper-based booking process to an electronic, paperless eScheduling solution which will also include the ability for physicians offices to book pre-surgical screening or PAC appointments at the same time.  With Novari’s real time HL7 integration to both hospitals’ individual computerized scheduling systems, booking clerks will be able to receive eBookings and attachments (history & physicals, consent forms, lab reports, etc.) from the physician offices electronically, review them and schedule them accordingly.
